Whilst we’ve been banging the Agentic AI drum loud and proud this year, it was great to see the insurance press begin to sit up and take notice, with a recent in-depth article on the subject in Insurance Times.
As part of its ‘TechTalk’ series, editor Yiannis Kotoulas considered whether Agentic AI presented a “sink or swim” moment for the insurance sector. He approached Send’s co-founder and CEO, Andy Moss to share his views on the subject alongside other market leaders.
As the concept of Agentic AI begins to pick up interest across the market, Jensen Huang, chief executive at Nvidia has publicly stated that the rise of agentic AI would be the ‘world’s next major technological shift, potentially creating a multi-trillion dollar for businesses around the globe’.
But, it’s in insurance that we believe Agentic AI could have the biggest potential impact. In the article, Andy commented that:
“The suitability of insurance to agentic AI is significant, especially for complex risks and commercial specialty business,” he continued, “having a digital co-worker who’s keeping an eye on some of these things for you, and actually doing some of the work presents an obvious use case.”
Of course, we’ve seen a lot of innovation championed as the ‘next big thing’ in the market, but we believe it would be a mistake to dismiss Agentic AI as just another buzzword.
For Andy, the key to success will be finding the right use cases for your business, rather than just holding on and trying to ride the hype.
“You can’t just start using this stuff”, he says, “You’ve got to plug it in somewhere and have something to hang it off to actually operationalise the technology – and I wouldn’t underestimate how hard that can be.”
The potential of this technology, particularly for our industry, is huge. We’re working in close partnership with our customers to find the right use cases, approach them with care, and work through the experimentation and testing required to get it right. As Andy concludes:
“The tech is there. Now it’s about the hard work of bringing it into the industry and being successful with use cases that matter to your businesses.”
