A 4-year scale-up success story

From three men and a dog to over thirty employees and a raft of strong customer relationships, this week Send turns four.

The business has grown significantly in the years since Ben, Andy and Matt had the vision to reshape and enhance the processes of commercial insurers, enjoying 40% year on year growth and processing over £2bn GWP on the Send platform.

Send at a glance:

Ben Huckel, CEO & Co-founder:

“When we launched in 2017, we wanted to fuse advanced technology and deep sector experience to challenge the status quo of commercial insurance processes. Within a year we’d secured a partnership with a leading global carrier and embedded our commercial and specialty Underwriting Workbench solution into the business, helping to streamline insurance operations and increase efficiencies.  The model works. We have an increasing set of customers from start-ups to global enterprises.”

“Though Send was born in London, we have global reach and our solutions and creativity aren’t constrained by geographical boundaries. I’m proud to be celebrating our fourth birthday, particularly following a difficult pandemic year, and I’m looking forward to seeing the business continue to grow and expand.”

Matt McGrillis, CTO & Co-founder:

“The insurance market is waking up to the benefits of composable insurance, with everyone from start-up MGAs to global carriers realising that they can build powerful, innovative and agile insurance systems by selecting only the components they need. Legacy systems have held the industry back for a long time, but now it’s time to harness these and optimise them for business success, this is where Send is really making a difference to our customers.”

“Our expertise and advanced systems have seen us compete (and win!) against larger, more established competitors, I’m proud of our progress so far; we’re disrupting the market and building strong partnerships based on trust with customers in the UK and beyond.”

Andy Moss, COO & Co-founder:

“Our overall product set is expanding, and we are adding new functionality to our Underwriting Workbench all the time following a philosophy of continuous evolution. We’ve just gone live with our fully-integrated Send Rating solution which delivers a rapid, advanced rating capability built on the latest technology to support and inform underwriting rate decisions.”

“But Send is nothing without its team of passionate techies and business experts who are hungry to innovate and disrupt the commercial market.  I am most proud of the diverse team we’ve built, whose skills and knowledge are fundamental to our success.”
